The programme was filmed entirely in the studio with an audience of children who at various points in the show would be asked an observation question by the King, which they would answer by climbing on board a giant see-saw. The majority answer would be indicated by which way the see-saw tipped. The show's main catchphrase was "Did you see it?" asked by the king, to which the audience would shout back, "We saw it!". The show was created and produced by Clive Doig, and most of the cast had also appeared in previous shows created by Doig: Mark Speight and Philip Fox were both part of the supporting cast in the GMTV programme Eat Your Words, while both Sylvester McCoy and Julia Binsted had long histories of working with Doig, both having appeared in the classic series Jigsaw in the 1980s. The only newcomer in the main cast was Natasha Collins as the jester See. Following a serious accident in 2000, Collins was unavailable for subsequent series and the role was taken over by Kate Crossley.

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is a Japanese anime series, directed by Hiroshi Saitô which was aired in 1980. It is based on the well-known and popular novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain. The series was broadcast on the World Masterpiece Theater, an animation staple on Fuji TV that showcased each year an animated version of a different classical book or story of Western literature, and was originally titled "Tom Sawyer no Bōken". It was the second installment of the series, after 1977's Rascal the Raccoon, to feature the work of an American author. This series was also dubbed to English by Saban International and aired on HBO circa 1988 under the title "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer." It aired during the 7:30AM time slot and alternated with the later WMT version of "Little Women." Celebrity Home Entertainment released videos in the United States under the title "All New Adventures of Tom Sawyer". As of January 2011, the anime is airing in the United States on the NHK's cable channel TV Japan.
Huckleberry Finn and His Friends was a 1979 television series documenting the exploits of Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer, based on the novels The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by American writer Mark Twain. The series was made up of 26 episodes and was a Canadian/German coproduction. Huckleberry Finn is played by Ian Tracey who is also the narrator. Tom Sawyer is played by Sammy Snyders. Directed by Jack B. Hively and Ken Jubenvill, this mini-series was broadcast in many countries such as Germany, UK, Australia, Canada, South Africa, Venezuela and many other Latin American nations. The series was re-shown many times during the 1980s to early 1990s and has grown somewhat of a cult following. Even though Mark Twain originally wrote the books The Adventures of Tom Sawyer and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as separate units, this mini-series conjures up both literary works as only one story. Therefore, it places greater importance on Huckleberry's character without putting aside Tom Sawyer's. In 2007, the complete series was released as a 4 DVD box set by Fabulous Films in the UK. It contains many extras including a 12 page color booklet and a 30 minute 'making of' documentary featuring interviews with many stars of the series including Sammy Snyders, Ian Tracey, and Blu Mankuma.
